Shear Capacity (TBDY)
Shear capacity is calculated through the following expression according to Appendix 15B of TBDY, as controlled by the stirrups, accounting also for the increment due to the FRP wrapping.
where Vc is calculated according to equations 8.1 and 8.4 of TS500:
The contribution of the transverse reinforcement to the shear capacity is calculated according to equation 8.5 of TS00:
The contribution of the FRP jacket to the shear resistance is computed through the following expression:
Note: The shear strength of a member may not be taken greater than the value corresponding to failure by web crushing, Vmax, which is calculated according to the following expression:
Concrete Jacketing
The value for the shear capacity, , of the jacketed members that is adopted in the capacity verifications depend on the corresponding value calculated under the requirements of the Appendix 15B of TBDY, according to the following limitations of section 15.10.1 of TBDY:
FRP Wrapping
The contribution of the FRP jacket to the shear resistance is taken into account according to section 15B.3 of the Appendix 15B of TBDY, as shown above.
